On Sunday, the person overseeing the coronavirus task force at the White House, Dr. Deborah L Birx, said Covid-19’s death toll in the US could rise to 200,000, with the highest number expected to be between 80,000 and 160,000.
The US had about one out of every five cases of Covid-19 around the world on Monday morning. With the current death toll in the US at 2,650, the U.S. news is dire — it means things will get worse, much worse, before they get better.
It also means that many other US states and cities are going to go through the same New York state crisis, and NYC is facing the same crisis right now. As of Monday morning, there were 776 deaths in New York City alone.
